According to researchers from the University College in London showed that happy people were more robust and fit. Enjoying your life is a significant contributor to healthy aging

Findings showed that people who are unhappy were three times as likely to develop issues in their physical activities as their jovial counterparts.

The study revealed that happy seniors had less trouble getting up, dressing, or taking a shower, as opposed to unhappy seniors who were twice as likely to develop diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and strokes.

Here are some items which can help keep you healthier and happier as you age


Maintain connections with those you care about. Go for walks, have long talks, keep in touch with your family members. It is important not to isolate. Travel with people you trust and enjoy. Laugh out loud and share your dreams and goals with your closest friends.

Get Some Sun

If the weather permits, get out and get some sunshine. According to an article by Psychology Today, a deficiency of vitamin D has significant medical and psychological consequences. Every tissue in the body has vitamin D receptors, including the brain, heart, muscles, and immune system, which means vitamin D is needed at every level for the body to function.


Exercise is a great way to elevate your mood. Exercising increases your energy. This is because your body releases endorphins. Its a very real phenomenom. Exercise can also help relieve chronic pain and inflammation

Plan for Your Retirement

Make time to think about what you will enjoy and benefit from now that you are no longer working. Where will you live? What are your hobbies? Will you volunteer your time? Do you want to travel? Have you set up your finances to support your remaining years not working? What are your dreams not that you are retired?

Take Care of Your Appearance

Make and keep your hair and nail appointments. Maintain your annual dental cleanings and appointments. Buy yourself a new outfit that you love.

Remember to Laugh
